Lois P. Jones was born January 11, 1944 to the late Sam and Sarah Phillips in Sebring, FL.
Lois was educated in the Highlands County School System and graduated from E.O. Douglas High School in the Class of 1962.
Lois was a devoted educator for Highlands County School Board and began her teaching career in 1989. She taught English at both the Middle and High Schools and retired after 30 years. She was a passionate teacher who demanded the best each student had to give to accomplish the tasks before them. She was a proud member of the Community Awareness and FCAA for more than 20 years - where she founded the Nubian Queens and was a co-advisor fot he Diamond Steppers, a performing arts and mentoring program for young ladies. She was also an adjunct advisor for South Florida State College - College Reach Out Program (CROP).
She was a faithful member and stewardess of New Mt. Olive AME Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Jones, Jr. and son Clyde Weathers III. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Charlton Weathers (Melissa), Courtney Weathers (Theresa), Corey Jones (Lilly), Jamise J. Dixon (Michael), James Jones III (LaToya); her sister, Clara Tate and brother Samuel Phillips, Jr.; eighteen grandchildren, nine great granchildre, a host of nieces and nephews, other loved ones and friends.
