Juanita Nieves de Meléndez passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. On August 27, 2020. She is now resting from the earthly worries until the second coming of Jesus. She was born in Morovis, Puerto Rico to Gerardo Nieves and Cándida Rosa Dávila on August 29, 1925. She was a woman of many talents: educator, seamstress, caregiver and excellent in culinary arts. Juanita was a devout Christian, dedicating her life to serve others and to do God’s will until her last breath. Since her youth, she was a loyal member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her greatest loves were the Lord, her children and family. There are no words to describe the loss of the Matriarch of the Meléndez family and all she represented. Preceded in death by her husband, Demetrio Meléndez, oldest son, Edgar Meléndez, daughter in law, Pristy Meléndez, oldest grandson, Pito Meléndez, her parents and seven siblings. Survived by daughter, Nilsa Meléndez Lebrón (James) from Avon Park, FL, son, Edwin Meléndez (Lourdes) from Spring Hill, son, Lester Meléndez from Anchorage, AK, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at the Avon Park Spanish Seventh Day Adventist church located at 1701 Oleander Rd, Avon Park, FL. Interment will be Tuesday, Setpember 8, 2020 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL
