On April 17, 2021, Helen Alice Downs Bouchard, of Wauchula, FL died suddenly. She had just turned 70 on April 10.
Helen is survived by her beloved husband Norman. Helen and Norman were married over 51 years. Helen is also survived by her children Helena (Seth) Case, East Canaan, CT and Christian (Faye) Bouchard, Kent, CT. She leaves behind her grandchildren Patrick, Richard, Ashley, Samuel, Abigail and Christian. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren Devin, Aria, Kobi and Grayson.
In addition, Helen is survived by her brother Edgar Downs, West Hartland, CT and sister, Cindy (Paul) Beauchemin, Naugatuck, CT. Also Helen is survived by a special friend (sister) Billie Siguoin as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends that she loved dearly.
Helen was preceded in death by her father Edgar Downs and mother Dorothy Stewart Downs, a brother Raymond Onidi and sisters, Ellie Cooke and Susan Mazzarella. In addition she was preceded in death by her namesake, Helen Stiles.
Helen was born on April 10, 1951 in Bristol, CT. She graduated from New Milford High School in 1968. Helen took some college courses at Dale Carnegie aiding to her career in Human Resources.
Helen married her husband Norman on October 4, 1969 in Washington, CT. They met when Norm was working on Whitehead Farm with Helen's father. Their first child Helena was born in 1972 while they were stationed in Germany. Their son Christian was born in 1975.
Helen had several residences including their home in Kent of 23 years and Wallkill, NY for 16 years. When Helen and Norm retired they found their life in Wauchula, FL were they have been enjoying their lives riding the motorcycle, spending time with their family friends and two dogs.
In 1991, Helen joined the AA fellowship obtaining 30 years of recovery and helped many people on their journey through the 12 steps. Everyone knew Helen for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh and incredible hugs.
Due to the nature of her death, there will be no memorial service at this time. Donations can be made to luckyophanshorserescue.org in her honor.
