Harold Fred Guerndt, Jr.

Mr. H. Fred Guerndt, Jr., 88, of Avon Park, died Wednesday, August 6, 2025.  Born June 3, 1937, in Valparaiso, IN to Harold Fred and Hazel (Overstreet) Guerndt he was a lifelong resident of Avon Park, FL.  Fred graduated from Avon Park High School in 1954 and from the University of Florida in 1959.  He was a past member of the Lions Club.  Fred was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church where he was actively involved as a deacon, choir member and Sunday School classes.  He was in the citrus industry both as a grove owner and the owner of a hedging company.  He was preceded in death in 2022 by his wife, Myrtis Smith Guerndt, whom he married June 22, 1963.  He is survived by his children, Charles (Amy) Guerndt and Karla (Gary) Dawson; sister, Cheryl (John) Dunning; four grandchildren, Mitchell (Casey) Guerndt, Tyler Dawson, Roxanne Guerndt and Oliva (Hunter) Vanderpool; one great grandson, Carter Guerndt.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Avon Park.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Interment will follow service in Hart Cemetery, Wauchula, FL.
