Douglas Lind, 70, of Sebring, entered into God's kingdom on November 28, 2023. He was born November 5th, 1953, to Richard and Norma Lind of Livonia, MI.
Doug, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his wife, Sharlon; son, Erik (Jenni); daughters, Laura Lind and Katherine Spencer (Shane); his mother, Norma Lind; brothers Dick (Jami) and David (Ruth) and grandchildren, Riley, Kiera, Jude Lind and Grace Spencer.
Doug met the love of his life Sharlon, and they were joined in marriage on December 6th, 1980. They shared 42 beautiful years of marriage and raised their family in Sebring.
Doug worked for the Highlands County School Board for 20 years in records and as the Print Shop Manager. He was a true craftsman at heart, beginning his career at the Henry Ford Museum where he crafted handmade leather works, with period tools. Doug was an accomplished and award winning woodworker. He was well known for his rustic and natural bandsaw boxes and beautiful lathe turnings and sculptures. His talent for woodworking won him many awards over the years, including best in show at the prestigious Anna Maria Island Art Show, judged by the Ringling Museum of Arts.
Doug had the uncanny ability to find the natural beauty in all things and people. He knew no stranger and was well known for his great big bear hugs. He enjoyed getting to know everyone he met, making friends everywhere he went. His love of sharing and helping others in need was perhaps one of his greatest attributes. He will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed. There will be a private celebration of life held with family.
