Scott G. Smith, 59, of Avon Park, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2018 at his home.  A native of Buffalo, New York he had lived here since 1971.  He was a 1976 graduate of Avon Park High School.  He was an officer with the Avon Park Police Department from 1978 – 1981, leaving for medical reason after an accident on the job. Scott had a guard dog business from 1982 – 1985 and also ran a maintenance business from 1982 – 1989. He drove a truck hauling for various companies.  He was a member of First Baptist Church Avon Park.  He is survived by his wife, Brenda Smith; 5 children, Justin Smith, Matthew Price, Joshua (Mariah) Price, Crystal (Jesiel) Price and Nicole (Robert) Kingery; brother, Brad (Mary) Smith; eight grandchildren.  The family will receive friends on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 5 – 7 pm at Fountain Funeral Home.  Private interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
