On the afternoon of Friday, April 3, Mary Elizabeth Seigfreid, at 93 years old, passed away peacefully at her home in Sebring, FL surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on August 19, 1932 in Copley, Ohio, and was the beloved wife of James "Jim" L. Seigfreid. She is survived by her two sons, James F. and Mark W. Seigfreid, and her beloved granddaughter

In her long and wonderful life, Mary touched many hearts with her joyful spirit and creative mind.  She attended The Applied Art Academy in Akron Ohio and competed in juried craft and art shows where she placed a multitude of times. Mary was a major contributor to the Artist Community in Highlands County and was a long-time member of the Art League, Heartland Cultural Alliance, and the Quilter's Guild.

Her life was filled with many accomplishments with her passion for creating and constant learning. Even though they say an artist is "born, not taught," she felt that while that may be true, she would never stop growing as an artist. She is a celebrated artist and also a published author. She began her art journey and well-know career in crafts in Cincinnati, Ohio working for Delta Paints and was chosen to be a charter member of "The Delta Force." She and eleven other women traveled the country teaching a variety of art techniques for Delta Technical Coating.

In lieu of a service, Mary will be honored by the Heartland Cultural Alliance at the Peter Powell Roberts Museum of Art and Culture in downtown Avon Park, FL.  The reception will be on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 1-3 PM and the show will remain through the month of April.
