Joseph C. Davidson, Sr.,  87, of Sebring, died Monday evening, April 10, 2017 at Somers Hospice House.  He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts and had lived in Highlands County since 1972. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, Army Air Corps and Navy and retired officer of the Salem Police Department, Salem, Massachusetts.  Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Theresa, in 2015.  He is survived by eight children, Joseph, Jr., David, James (Cindy), Michele, Charles (Pat), Rene (Tammy) Gary (LaWanna) and Dana (Cathy); 17 grandchildren, Barry Bethune, Holly Traywick, Christy Traywick, Tara Davidson, Kristen Davidson, Kelley Sherrill, Forest Sherrill, Meaghan Venable, CJ Davidson, Kerri Davidson, Andrew Davidson, Kathryn Davidson, Sarah Davidson, Blake Davidson, Brandon Davidson, Brock Davidson and Ryan Davidson; 10 great grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church.  Inurnment will be in Sarasota National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Somers Hospice House, Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring, FL 33870.
