David Leroy Stimson, 46, of Avon Park, died Saturday morning, January 20, 2018 in Florida Hospital Tampa. He was born July 23, 1971 to Roger and Peggy Stimson and lived most of his life in Avon Park. David earned the distinction of Eagle Scout in 1987. He was a graduate of Avon Park High School 1989, Ridge Fire Academy in 1990, Manatee Vo. Tech Paramedic training 1993 and South Florida Community College 1999 - Law Enforcement Academy. David began working for Hardee County Fire Rescue, he was an adjunct instructor in law enforcement South Florida State College and retired from Wauchula Police Department as a Lieutenant. He impacted many lives both professionally and personally, being well respected with his students he often was asked to speak at their graduations. He enjoyed woodworking which he had learned from his father, making his family many things. David enjoyed his family and the time he was able to spend with them. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Avon Park. He is survived by his wife, Sherlay; four sons, Dustin, Dalton, Donovan and Dayne; daughter, Shannon; Aunt, Janet Willis; cousins, Joe (Jennifer) Willis and Denice Willis. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, Avon Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
