Betty Louise Bassitt, 93, passed away, June 19, 2018 at Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center after a short illness.  She was born September 8, 1924 to Clarence and Catherine (Johnson) Kersker. Ms. Bassitt was a teacher Bath Township, Ohio, Brevard County, Fla and retired from the school system of Highlands County, Fla in 1985.  She taught for over 42 years.  Over the years she graduated and was an alumni of Ohio Northern University, volunteered at the Elks in Sebring, Fla and sang with Sweet Adelines in Ohio.  She attended Union Congregation Church in Avon Park, Fla.  Ms. Betty was known for her smile.  She is survived by her children, Leslie (Stephen) Becker, Avon Park, FL, Randi (Edward – deceased) Davidson, Titusville, FL, Jamie (James) Brewer, Sebring, FL, James (Valerie) Bassitt, San Antonio, TX, and Jay (Jessica) Bassitt, Lebanon, ME; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Union Congregational with Pastor Bill Breylinger officiating.
