Obituary

Mrs. Beatrice Brown-Peterson, 77, of Avon Park, went to be with her Lord on February 4, 2020 with her family by her side.  She was born to Elmo and Myrtle Lee (Dismuke) Brown and lived in this area her entire life.  She retired from the Highlands County School System as a paraprofessional having worked over 30 years.  She was a member of the Faith Pentecostal House of God.  Beatrice was very involved in her community having been a part of the Highlands County NAACP; United Negro Women's Council, Highlands County Democratic Association, Community Awareness Association, the E.O. Douglas Alumni Association, Voter's Registration League, Pack the Pew Organizer and the Founder of the MLK Walk.  She was preceded in death by her husband Cueller Peterson and brothers, Bishop Thomas J. Brown and Jimmie Brown.  She is survived by 4 brothers, Harold Brown, Enoch Brown, Kelly Brown and Ulyesses Brown; sister, Susan Brown.  Services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Faith Pentecostal House of God, Avon Park at 11:00 AM with interment following in the Lakeside Historical Cemetery.
