John Anthony Webster

John Webster, 74, of Lake Placid, FL died Monday morning, September 18, 2017, at his home. He was a native of Pekin, Illinois he moved to Lake Placid about 10 years ago after a very active broadcasting career, best known for his time at the Magic Morning Show Lanigan, Webster and Malone at Magic 105, Cleveland. He worked in Davenport, IO, Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, New York City and Cleveland, OH. John was a inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2004. He was part owner of recording studio "The Real Thing", Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by step son, William Fox. He is survived by his wife, Willie Fox, Lake Placid, FL; two sons, Derek (Laura) Webster, OH and Jeremey (Jessie) Webster, OH; two daughters, Christine (Tom) Walsh, IL and Terri (Dr. Elbert) DeRubertis, IL; two step sons, Jonathan Fox, OH and Jason Fox, OH; brother, Peter Stoltz, IL; 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. A memorial service will be held on October 7, 2017 at St. Patrick's , Cleveland, OH. A Memorial Mass will be held on October 8, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cleveland, OH at 2:00 p.m.

Shared from his daughter-in-law, Laura Main Webster:   "He was a man with an amazing past, exciting and colorful stories and a great booming laugh.  He loved having us visit him in Florida or Put-in-Bay or his house on the West Side with Grandma Willie-Wilma Fox and always enjoyed telling the kids stories of his life and of his radio days.  I was always amazed that he met and interview Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  How incredible!  He loved his family and was very spiritual.  We were fortunate enough to go to church with him, pray with him and laugh with him around the table.  He took time out of his life to care for Violet three days a week when she was an infant.  He grew his own garlic and we loved laughing about how it made Violet's first food (and breath) so stinky!  He was always loving and kind to me, Derek and the kids and we admired him.  We still do.  He was a great character, and loving father and grandfather.  We will miss him so much.  WTAM, his final radio gig did a lovely story on him:  http://wtam.iheart.com/content/2017-09-19-cleveland-radio-legend-john-webster-has-died/
