Mr. Edwin Louis Hansen, 81, of Sebring, FL passed away on January 16, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Edwin was born in Cleveland, OH to Harlon and Carol (Roth) Hansen. He raised his family in Elyria, OH and moved to the sunshine state after retiring from LTV Steel in Elyria, OH. He was a veteran of the US Army. He had such a deep love for his Cleveland Browns (patiently waited for a Superbowl opportunity), Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes. Outdoors was a cherished activity, whether playing catch with his many dogs (most recently Nala) or his numerous fishing and boating trips in Canada. Edwin fought his battle against diabetes for many years. Despite the times he spent in and out of a hospital, he never lost his sense of humor! Throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes with his grown children, made silly faces with his grandchildren and even pulled some light-hearted pranks on the nurses. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be greatly missed. The family says, “Most of all, our father was always there to listen. He will forever be in our hearts. Thank you for being a Great Family Leader. Edwin is survived by his wife of 62 years Anita M (nee Zambo) Hansen; 5 children, Carole (John) Rubino, Christine Hansen (Ivan Mancini), Edwin M. (Cyndi) Hansen, Ellie (Del) Hunt and Barbara (Cameron) Michels; 2 brothers, Lanny (Shirley) Hansen and Jerry (Dolly) Hansen; 10 grandchildren, Brianna Rubino, Jenna (Will) English, Kaleigh (Eric) Christiansen, Grace and Michael Novak, Meleah (Devin) Cunningham, Braedon (Taylor), Nyah, Justin (Caitlyn) Gomez and Savannah Hunt; 3 great grandchildren, Carson Gomez, Liam English, Teagan Cunningham. As he requested, a private service will be held at a later date.
